Send money to and from India

Whichever direction you're moving money, INR pricing from your bank carries a 2–4% margin you never see itemised. X Rate Capital prices Indian Rupees off the live interbank market, settles same-day, often within a couple of hours over NEFT, RTGS or IMPS, and puts a named specialist on every transfer.

Moving money to and from India

Live INR pricing

Interbank rates with a small margin disclosed before you confirm — not a spread buried inside the quote.

Both directions

Sending to India and receiving from it are different jobs with different timings. One desk handles both.

Lock a rate ahead

Named specialist

A direct line to someone who knows the India route, not a different call-centre agent each time.

Frequently asked questions

How long does a transfer to India take?+

Funds reach the beneficiary over NEFT, RTGS or IMPS, typically same-day, often within a couple of hours once your money has cleared and the beneficiary is verified. The rupee isn't fully convertible, so inbound transfers carry an RBI purpose code and typically land in an NRE or NRO account. NRE balances stay freely repatriable; NRO funds don't. Getting the account type right up front saves real friction later.

What should I know about sending money out of India?+

Money leaving India runs under the RBI's Liberalised Remittance Scheme, which caps individual outbound remittances at USD 250,000 per financial year and applies TCS above certain thresholds.

What is the Indian Rupees exchange rate today?+

The calculator above runs off live mid-market pricing, so it reflects where INR is trading right now rather than a rate refreshed once a day. For the rate you'd actually trade at on a specific amount, request a live quote — pricing improves as the size goes up.

Why do people move money to and from India?+

Most of the volume we handle on this route is driven by family support, property, NRI investment and education — one of the largest remittance corridors in the world.

Is X Rate Capital regulated?+

Yes. Payment services are delivered through FCA-authorised partners — Sciopay Ltd (FRN 927951) and Equals Connect Limited (FRN 671508). Client funds are safeguarded in segregated accounts with tier-1 UK banks.
